Florida State dismisses one of its best defenders

Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher has dismissed star cornerback/return man Greg Reid from the football team.

Last month Reid was arrested by the Georgia State Patrol and was charged with driving with a suspended license and possession of marijuana.

The 5-8, 186-pound Georgia native, who was arrested on perjury charges (which were later dropped) and suspended from a game last year, recorded 27 tackles and two interceptions in 2011. He also racked up 563 return yards and a score. In 2010 he notched 14 pass breakups, 54 tackles, a punt return score and accounted for six turnovers.

The 'Noles could move Nick Waisome or Keelin Smith up the depth chart in light of Reid's loss, but it's a tough blow to an experienced secondary.
