Florida QB Driskel undergoes appendectomy

Florida quarterback Jeff Driskel could miss two weeks after undergoing an appendectomy.

Coach Will Muschamp said in a release issued by the university that his starting quarterback had acute appendicitis.

"Fortunately the medical staff caught it very quickly," Muschamp said. "His surgery went well and how long he is out will be determined by how his body responds, which could be two weeks."

Driskel competed for the starting job last season but Jacoby Brissett opted to transfer.

Entering his second season in offensive coordinator Brent Pease's system, Driskel earned a leadership role and high expectations from Muschamp.

"It's his football team," Muschamp said.
