Florida QB Driskel sidelined for Saturday's game

Florida quarterback Jeff Driskel will miss Saturday's game against Jacksonville State because of an ankle sprain.

The sophomore's status for the regular-season finale against Florida State is still up in the air, coach Will Muschamp said Wednesday.

Sophomore Jacoby Brissett will start in Driskel's place Saturday.

"Whenever you deal with an ankle, it's a day-to-day process," Muschamp said. "It's a situation that continues to improve. How much it'll improve into next week, I have no idea at this time. We feel like he'll be available, but who knows?"

Brissett will be making his second start of the season Saturday. He completed 6 of 8 passes for 64 yards and one touchdown after Driskel got hurt late in the third quarter of last Saturday's game against Louisiana-Lafayette. Brissett has thrown only 13 passes this season.

Brissett replaced Driskel in the third quarter Saturday when Driskel went down with the ankle injury. Brissett completed 6 of 8 passes for 64 yards and a touchdown.

"Got a lot of confidence in Jacoby," Muschamp said of Brissett, who started the Gators' opener this season and played in eight games last year.
