Freshman forward Jerome Frink scored 20 points, including six in the final two minutes, to lead Florida International to an 80-75 victory over Louisiana-Lafayette on Thursday night in a Sun Belt Conference game in Lafayette, La. With the score tied 70-70, Frink scored four quick points on layups, the second breaking a 72-72 tie. Then after Cameron Bell hit two free throws to give the Panthers (11-8, 6-4) a four-point cushion with 36.3 seconds remaining, Frink added hit two free throws with 18.3 seconds left to make it 78-72. Alan-Michael Thompson hit a 3-pointer with at the 10.6 mark to get it back to a one-possession game for the Ragin' Cajuns (7-15, 3-8), but sophomore Deric Hill hit two free throws for FIU for the final margin. Frink bounced back from a scoreless game against Troy in his previous outing for his highest-scoring game since getting 22 in his collegiate debut in a loss to Boston College on Nov. 11. Tymell Murphy added 16 for the Panthers, who have won three in a row and seven of their last eight games. Thompson and Elfrid Payton led the Cajuns with 22 points each and Shawn Long added 21.
