Florida International 75, Louisiana-Lafayette 70

Junior forward Tymell Murphy recorded his second consecutive double-double to lead Florida International to a 75-70 victory over Louisiana-Lafayette in Sun Belt Conference basketball Saturday night.

Murphy scored 28 points and grabbed 15 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the season. He also blocked a career-high five shots as the Panthers (6-7, 2-3) won their second in a row.

The visiting Ragin' Cajuns (6-11, 2-4) got 23 points from Bryant Mbamalu in losing their second in a row.

Both teams struggled from the field and with turnovers in the sloppily played game.

The Cajuns shot only 38.3 percent (23 of 60) from the field and turned the ball over 21 times.

The Panthers made two more field goals in the same number of attempts and were charged with 22 turnovers.

The Cajuns hit 12 3-pointers in 30 attempts to the Panthers' 4 in 19, but the Panthers made up for the difference at the free throw line.

Though they shot only a mediocre 55.3 percent from the stripe, the Panthers had 38 attempts and made 21 while the Cajuns had only 22 attempts, making 12.
