There are some things Ryan Grant just doesn't do.
Height: 6'0", Weight: 193 lbs
Ryan Grant could make the biggest and earliest impact of all the players drafted in 2014 by the Redskins. He works hard and is a quick study. It helps when you're learning from Ike Hilliard and being mentored by DeSean Jackson, Pierre Garçon, and Santana Moss. His play so far during the preseason has spoken for itself. We know he's a talented wide receiver. But here are five more things you need to know about Ryan Grant.
#1. Grant has never been on a vacation. Ever. Perhaps he can tag along with Spencer Long to Europe. Or New Zealand.
#2. Grant is the first player from Tulane to be drafted since 2009 (Tony Kropog, 4th round, 135th overall).
#3. Grant is the first player from Tulane drafted by the Redskins since Patrick Ramsey in the 1st round of the 2002 NFL Draft (32nd overall).
#4. He lettered all four years at Tulane with 196 receptions for 2,769 yards. In his last 33 games, he had at least one catch. He had multiple catches in the last 19 games. He is also only the second player in Tulane history to record back-to-back season with over 1,000 yards(1,149 in 2012 & 1,039 in 2013).
#5. Ryan Grant has no social media accounts. He told Redskins Nation, "I've been bugged by not having Twitter and Instagram and all that, but I'm not into the social media. I'm a very low key kind of guy, and I don't need any outside distractions."
Bottom Line: Jay Gruden, along with just about every Redskins fan on the planet, has been impressed by Grant's play. He told the Washington Post, "Every rookie handles [their first training camp] differently," Gruden said Saturday. "Some rookies are basket cases, some are cool, calm and collected. Ryan Grant looks like he's been here for ten years. He's handled it perfectly." So Grant is beyond his years on the field and with his disdain of social media. If eschewing Facebook, Twitter, and their ilk helps him concentrate on his game, I can live without another player to "follow" and "like" in cyberspace.
