R-Truth and Kofi Kingston held the WWE Tag Team Championships for the better part of 2012 but recently lost them to Daniel Bryan and Kane. Both Kingston and Truth have been successful as singles wrestlers as well over the years. Now that they have been eliminated from the Tag Team Tournament to determine who will face the new champions at Hell in a Cell, is it finally time to have them go solo once again? As a huge WWE fan, here are three reasons I would love to see that happen:
Kofi has deserved a serious run for a long time
Although the tag team titles are growing in prestige as we speak, they have largely been ignored over the past year. Kofi Kingston is one of the greatest in ring performers on the roster and has deserved a strong single's push for a long time. He has grown a great deal and would make a great champion if they played their cards right. I think he even could pull off a possible heel turn if they worked it right although he is much more likely to remain a face for the kids.
Truth needs to go back to being a hilariously mental heel
R-Truth enjoyed a white-hot run as a heel before he found his way back to being a face. The heel Truth is by far more interesting than the face Truth. His promos as a heel were some of the most entertaining of the past several years in my opinion.
Truth and Kingston never felt right in my view
These two guys are both great athletes, but their personalities and characters never made sense to be together as a team. For whatever reason, they always felt forced to me. There are other tag teams that do fit together logically. For this reason, I feel that breaking these guys up is the right thing to do at this time.
Seeing Truth turn heel would be a welcome sight. That would signal the break up and put both men into a single's feud right out of the gate that can highlight them both. This ready-made angle could end up being the sleeper angle of the winter if they play it right. Both men have a great deal to offer when they are utilized correctly.
*Southern is a huge WWE fan that believes they could improve a great deal by looking back at the old NWA ways of doing things.
