Five Reasons Kelly Kelly Leaving the WWE is Good for the Divas: Fan's Reaction

Yahoo Contributor Network

On Friday, September 28, 2012, Kelly Kelly was officially released by the WWE. As a huge fan of the WWE and even of Kelly Kelly, I must admit I was a bit surprised by this move. Certainly there have been signs of this possibly happening of late. Still, it always felt like rumors to me. Kelly Kelly was the face of the WWE Divas for a very long time. Though she had plenty of issues in between the ropes, she was very good with the media and as a representative of the WWE. Now that she is gone, many are seeing it as yet another sign that the Divas are imploding. With the loss of some developmental talents, Kharma and the rumored coming loss of Beth Phoenix, there are plenty of reasons to feel that way.

I see it a bit differently, however. I think that this could actually be a positive thing for the Divas if they play their cards right in WWE creative. Here are five good reasons why Kelly Kelly leaving might end up being a good thing in the end:

New Stars Will Get That Face Time

Kelly Kelly has been the go-to girl when it comes to media interviews, public relations and promotion. Now that she has moved on to build her own brand, other Divas might get their chances. The WWE needs to get their girls in front of people to expect any type of return in the division. This opens the doors to do so.

Kelly Kelly Was A Model

Although she improved over the years, Kelly Kelly was really just a model in the ring. Gorgeous as she was, she brought the level of wrestling around her down to a sad level most of the time. When you try to make a wrestler a model, you can have equally ugly results. Kelly Kelly was the model that tried to go wrestler. It didn't work inside the ropes, but it did brilliantly outside of them.

Her Release Could Hopefully Mean A New Focus

The Divas division has been stale for a very long time. Seeing their primary star released like this only makes me wonder what they have planned. Certainly they could be planning on slowly killing the division, but the more likely answer is that they are going in a new direction.

Kelly Kelly Is Now Free To Go Mainstream

I have always liked Kelly Kelly but I have always seen her as more of an actress or model. I look forward to seeing where she takes her awesome brand. She has all the makings of a star and I pray that she is able to capitalize on her current popularity.

The Divas Landscape Looks Different

Virtually every Diva that is left after all this current drama could be considered somewhat new. Though Eve and A.J, and others have been around for a bit, they still feel like new characters because they have been so underutilized. This could pay off handsomely if the WWE strikes now. The landscape is interesting, but they can't ignore it for long. Otherwise, it will be the same old stuff and never get any better.

*Southern is a huge WWE fan that believes they could improve a great deal by looking back at the old NWA ways of doing things.
