SAN ANTONIO (AP) -- Dennis Mavin led five Florida International players in double-figure scoring and the Golden Panthers rolled to an 80-72 win at Texas-San Antonio Thursday night.
FIU led by six at the half and carried a 10-point lead through the second half to push their season record past the .500 mark. The Golden Panthers lost their only other meeting with the Roadrunners, losing 71-65 in 2001.
Edrico McGregor converted a three-point play and added a dunk in the final minute to pull the Roadrunners within eight points.
McGregor scored 16 points to lead Texas-San Antonio (7-16, 3-7). Devon Aqusi and Keon Lewis added 13 and 12 points, respectively, and Jordan Sims pulled down 10 rebounds.
