Fisher says Bradford is Rams' starter in 2014

St. Louis Rams coach Jeff Fisher said Tuesday that Sam Bradford, who is recovering from last year's torn ACL, will be the starting quarterback even with a scheduled $17.6 million salary cap figure in 2014.

"Sam's doing great with the rehab," Fisher told ESPN's "Mike and Mike."

"He's really excited. He took on a leadership role last year and he's maintained that and he's our quarterback, and we've said that."

Fisher didn't rule out a new contract for Bradford.

"We talk about extensions with all our players under contract," Fisher said. "Whether or not we do so with him, I don't know where all this came from, but Sam's our quarterback. He's going to be under center."

Bradford is heading into the fifth year of a sixth-year contract. There has been speculation that the Rams, who hold two first-round picks in May's draft, could either cut Bradford or redo his contract.

Bradford was off to the best start of his career last season before suffering a torn ACL against the Carolina Panthers on Oct. 20. He completed more than 60 percent of his passes with 14 touchdowns and four interceptions in seven games.
