ITHACA, N.Y. (AP) -- Jeff Mathews threw for 525 yards and four touchdowns, and John Wells kicked a 23-yard field goal with 50 seconds left to lead Cornell to a 37-35 victory over Princeton on Saturday.
Cornell (4-3, 2-2 Ivy League) pulled ahead 34-28 on Silas Nocita's 2-yard run, but Wells missed the extra point attempt.
Quinn Epperly's touchdown pass gave the Tigers (4-3, 3-1) a 35-34 lead with 8:49 left in the fourth quarter. The Tigers were trying to run out the clock when Cornell's Brian Gee forced Dre Nelson's fumble, recovered by Tre' Minor.
Cornell amassed 566 yards to Princeton's 549, but the Tigers turned the ball over four times, two of which ended its final two drives in the fourth quarter.
