Throughout the 2012 MLS season, FC Dallas has been plagued by injuries. The players who are healthy have become fatigued and frustrated. As they get ready to face Real Salt Lake, FC Dallas can only hope for a tie. A victory is an unrealistic expectation on Satruday, May 26, 2012. If they get a tie gainst Real Salt Lake, FC Dallas should consider that a victory.
FC Dallas' Fatigue
The injuries suffered by FC Dallas have devastated their midfield and defense. Their midfield is currently lacking David Ferreira, Andrew Wideman and Bobby Warshaw, and defenders Ugo Ihemelu, Alex Lee and Hernan Pertuz will also be out during the match against Real Salt Lake.
The players who have been asked to fill in for their injured teammates have become tired. In addition to being fatigued, they played last Wednesday in Chicago, when Chicago Fire beat FC Dallas. Real Salt Lake, however, has had two weeks to rest for their match against FC Dallas on May 26, 2012. FC Dallas will not be able to keep up with Real Salt Lake.
FC Dallas' Frustration
After FC Dallas' game against Chicago Fire, Coach Shellas Hyndman expressed the teams frustration. I wrote about how this frustration could affect the team's performance in FC Dallas' Miserable May. The MLS rankings show that Real Salt Lake and FC Dallas are miles apart in the Western Conference. Real Salt Lake is second, while FC Dallas is seventh. In order for them to even tie Real Salt Lake, FC Dallas is going to have to believe in themselves. Real Salt Lake certainly knows they can perform on the field. Only the match will reveal whether FC Dallas can muster any confidence.
FC Dallas. v. Real Salt Lake
The best result Dallas fans can hope for on Saturday, May 26. 2012 in the match between FC Dallas and Real Salt Lake is a tie. FC Dallas' players will be too fatigued to play 90 minutes and beat the Salt Lake City club. Perhaps, if FC Dallas gets lucky and lays aside their frustration, they can tie Real Salt Lake.
