While they have not had the best outing of their club career, FC Dallas still has a lot of spark left. They can light a serious fire before the final standings determine the 2012 MLS Cup Playoffs. The unfortunate season really had its lowest point in May,which I wrote about in FC Dallas' Miserable May. The club could not produce even a single victory. Yet, the 2012 MLS Cup is not out of FC Dallas' reach.
FC Dallas in the MLS Standings
As it stands right now in the MLS Standings, FC Dallas is only one spot from getting into the playoffs. With their current sixth-place position in the Western Conference, they need only take advantage of a few key players and turn the situation around. David Ferreira and Matias Jara can help FC Dallas star to win regularly. Hopefully the team can carry the momentum of their exhilarating win against Real Salt Lake into the match between FC Dallas and Los Angeles Galaxy on Sunday, August 26, 2012.
FC Dallas' David Ferreira and Matias Jara
Since his return, offensive great David Ferreira has had a significant impact. In fact, he was elected MLS Player of the Week. With consistent quality showings, he could have a dramatic influence on their run to get into the playoffs. Another important player that will likely produce big results in the upcoming matches is Matias Jara. He is a proven offensive threat. Combined, these two should be able to start turning the tables on upcoming stiff competition like the Galaxy. Matias Jara nd David Ferreira give FC Dallas a new playoff hope.
Match Preview: FC Dallas v. LA Galaxy
On August, August 26, 2012, FC Dallas and the LA Galaxy will play in a game that could set the tone for the remainder of FC Dallas' 2012 MLS season. Considering the impact that David Ferreira has already had since his return, and the promising performances of Matias Jara still to come, this should be an opportunity for FC Dallas to regain their focus and take a serious stand. Considering that the Los Angeles Galaxy are 4th in the Western Conference, it would be a good victory for FC Dallas.
The season is far from over for FC Dallas, but now its crunch time. It is time to show the Western Conference, the MLS, and the world that FC Dallas is not going to lie down and give up. While it will take some effort and an entire team to focus on winning games, there's still some fight left in them.
