FC Dallas defeated the San Jose Earthquakes by a single goal to retain top spot in the Western Conference and claim first place overall in MLS.
Dallas scored the game's only goal in the 33rd minute through Fabian Castillo. David Ferreira burst out of midfield on a counterattack and found Castillo at the edge of the box. Castillo then cut inside and placed his shot in the far corner.
The win gives Dallas 27 points, three more than the New York Red Bulls, who are top in the East. San Jose, meanwhile, sinks to 3-5-6 on the year, outside of the playoff spots.
