Father of RG-3 expects Redskins quarterback to play Sunday

National Football Post

The Washington Redskins are counting their blessing today after learning that quarterback Robert Griffin III will not miss significant time with a right knee injury suffered in Sunday’s victory.

In fact, it sounds right now like there is real optimism Griffin will be able to play Sunday against the Cleveland Browns with the Redskins now in the playoff hunt at 7-6 and one game out of the final playoff spot in the NFC.

Redskins coach Mike Shanahan announced Griffin suffered a Grade 1 sprain to his LCL, which is on the outside of the knee, according to Mike Jones of the Washington Post. Shanahan described swelling as mild and called the rookie quarterback “day-to-day.”

Griffin’s father said his son expects to play. At this point, virtually nothing with Griffin would come as a surprise.
