Good fantasy managers are always looking for ways to improve their teams. Below are tight ends who played well in Week Seven, despite being owned in fewer than 30% of Yahoo fantasy leagues.
1. Dustin Keller, New York Jets
Keller is finally healthy, and he makes the Jets' offense much better. He was owned in only 27% of leagues, and he caught seven passes for 93 yards and a touchdown, as New York nearly upset the New England Patriots. He was the second-best tight end last week, behind only Rob Gronkowski. Over the last three years, Keller has averaged 55 receptions, 675 yards and four touchdowns. He should be a solid fantasy play moving forward, since quarterback Mark Sanchez loves to throw to him and doesn't have many other options.
2. Dallas Clark, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Struggling offensive players enjoy facing the New Orleans Saints. Clark had been quiet all season since joining Tampa Bay, but he bounced back in a huge way in Week Seven. Not only did he score his first touchdown of the year, but he also had season highs with five catches and 51 yards. He was owned in only 9% of leagues, but he was a top-five tight end last week. It remains to be seen if this performance will become a consistent thing or if it was only a one-week surprise. At the very least, note that he will meet the Saints again on December 16, which is right around fantasy playoff time.
3. David Thomas, New Orleans Saints
If you drafted Jimmy Graham high and had all of your eggs in his basket, you might have played Thomas in Week Seven. If so, it was a good move since he scored a touchdown and had two catches. In a low-scoring week for tight ends, Thomas was just outside the top five for the week. Thomas was owned in only 2% of leagues, and quarterback Drew Brees will get the ball to him if he plays. The team is hoping Graham can return for Week Eight, so Thomas may not be a good add right now. However, Graham has not really been healthy all year, and if the team were to lose more games, it is possible that they could choose to let him heal and not rush him back. If you own Graham, you may want to grab Thomas at some point this season.
