Fantasy Football Fan's Take: Tight Ends to Add for Week Two

Yahoo Contributor Network

The tight end position is extra deep this year. Nearly every NFL team has a quality fantasy option at tight end now, with some teams having two or more. As a result, many leagues exited fantasy drafts leaving tight end value on the waiver wire.

If you waited to draft your tight end and did not get one of the top players, you may be able to upgrade and help your team at tight end or flex. Quarterbacks are targeting tight ends more now, making them as valuable as wide receivers in many cases.

One example is Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Heath Miller, who is owned in only 24% of Yahoo leagues. Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will always get Miller the ball, perhaps even more in 2012 since the team has injuries at running back. In the Steelers' first game, Miller grabbed four catches for 50 yards and a touchdown. If he hasn't been picked up in your league yet, Miller is a great option, even as a reserve.

Below are three other players who are likely free agents and could give you some depth at tight end this year.

1. Scott Chandler, Buffalo Bills

The Bills still do not have a solid option at receiver to line up along with Stevie Johnson. Chandler could be the best alternative for quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick and will likely be the team's second or third best receiver in many games this year. In the opener, Chandler had four catches, 38 yards and a score. He is owned in 4% of leagues.

2. Kevin Boss, Kansas City Chiefs

In his final three seasons in New York, Boss averaged 37 receptions, 494 yards and five touchdowns each year. I expect him to score more in Kansas City as he becomes a bigger part of the offense and works more with quarterback Matt Cassel. The two connected on two catches for 36 yards and a touchdown in the first game.

3. Zach Miller, Seattle Seahawks

Kellen Winslow was released by the Seahawks after most fantasy leagues had held their drafts. Miller went undrafted in almost every league and is owned in only 1% right now. In the opening game he had three catches for 40 yards and should become more of a consistent target for rookie Russell Wilson. Miller averaged 56 receptions and 678 yards during his four seasons in Oakland.
