Fantasy Football Fan's Take: Former LSU Tigers Offer Fantasy Value at Wide Receiver

Yahoo Contributor Network

The LSU Tigers currently have more than 50 former players on NFL rosters in the 2012 preseason. A position of strength for the Tigers has been wide receiver, where several players have had success professionally. Below is a list of past LSU players who offer fantasy value at the wide receiver position in 2012.

Dwayne Bowe, Kansas City Chiefs

Bowe is signed and is scheduled to play in the team's game on Friday, August 24. From a fantasy perspective, Bowe's value dropped last season when he scored only five touchdowns, after finding the endzone 15 times in 2010. However, his 81 catches were a career high, and his offense should look much better this year, assuming running backs Jamaal Charles and Peyton Hillis stay healthy.

Early Doucet, Arizona Cardinals

Doucet had career highs in 2011 with 54 receptions, 689 yards and five touchdowns. He will battle with Michael Floyd and Andre Roberts for playing time and targets, and the Cardinals' quarterback situation is not very stable. Still, Doucet is a player to watch who could be a decent waiver add at some point this year.

Devery Henderson, New Orleans Saints

Henderson caught 32 passes for 503 yards last year, his fourth consecutive season with at least 32 receptions. With Robert Meachem's exit via free agency, Henderson has a chance to contribute even more in 2012.

Brandon LaFell, Carolina Panthers

In his first two seasons, LaFell had 74 receptions, 1,081 yards and four scores, while starting only seven games. If he can secure the second wide receiver spot for the Panthers, he is worth a late-round pick in fantasy drafts.

Rueben Randle, New York Giants

As a junior at LSU last year, Randle totaled 53 catches, 917 yards and eight touchdowns. Vying for the number three receiver job in New York as a rookie, Randle has three receptions, 76 yards and a score in the preseason. He is a great sleeper candidate for the 2012 fantasy season.
