Each week there are fantasy football players who do not meet their projected expectations. By looking at players who disappointed each week, it can help us when setting our lineups. Also, if you like one of the players on this list, it may be a good time to "buy low."
Below are some of the fantasy tight ends who were most disappointing in Week Four play based on Yahoo Sports' projected rankings.
1. Kyle Rudolph, Minnesota Vikings
Ranked fifth in Yahoo's Week Four projections, Rudolph had a great start to the season. With 13 catches and three touchdowns in the first three weeks, Rudolph managed just two receptions and eight yards in Week Four. His Vikings defeated the Detroit Lions for a big victory, but it was surprising that Rudolph was not more involved. He should be fine moving forward since he is one of quarterback Christian Ponder's favorite targets.
2. Dennis Pitta, Baltimore Ravens
Pitta was a huge disappointment in Week Four, not catching a single pass in his team's win over the Cleveland Browns. Facing a weak defense in Week Four, Pitta was projected as the eighth best option at tight end for the week. Unfortunately he added nothing to his season totals of 18 receptions, 188 yards and two scores. Quarterback Joe Flacco is having a good season, but many of his targets are going to receivers Torrey Smith and Anquan Boldin right now. Throw in Ray Rice and you can see why Pitta may have weeks like this.
3. Vernon Davis, San Francisco 49ers
The 49ers crushed the New York Jets 34-0, but Davis had only two catches for 28 yards. Davis was ranked 12th in Yahoo's projections, making him a recommended start in 12-team leagues. However, he finished outside of the top 25 tight ends for the week in most leagues. Davis scored in his first three games this year, but when he doesn't get into the endzone, his fantasy numbers can be disappointing.
4. Martellus Bennett, New York Giants
Ranked 14th in the Week Four projections, many owners expected a big week from Bennett and started him at tight end or a flex spot. With 15 catches, 185 yards and three touchdowns in the first three weeks, Bennett owners were let down by his one catch for two yards in his last game. This could mostly be credited to the Philadelphia Eagles' defense, and I expect Bennett to bounce back soon.
5. Dallas Clark, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Clark has disappointed every game this year, and owners are likely losing faith in his chances of having fantasy success in the Bucs offense. With three catches for 15 yards in Week Four, Clark now has nine receptions and 81 yards for the season. Clark has not proven to have much fantasy value without Peyton Manning.
