Yahoo Contributor Network

Week 23 of the fantasy baseball season is complete and there were many great individual performances this week that helped propel head-to-head league owners to wins. From the best in the game to some surprise fantasy contributors, here's a review of the top 10 fantasy baseball players from September 10-16*.

10*. SP Jered Weaver, Los Angeles Angels

Week 23 statistics*: 7.0 IP, 1 W, 0 SV, 9 K, 0.00 ERA, 0.43 WHIP

After skipping his last start due to biceps tendinitis, Weaver returned with no problems by allowing just two hits over seven innings against the Oakland Athletics. After a month of average starts, Weaver looks to be in great form to end the season.

9. OF Yoenis Cespedes, Oakland Athletics

Week 23 statistics: 7/22 H/AB, 5 R, 3 HR, 5 RBI, 1 SB, .318 AVG

Despite recent wrist issues, Cespedes had not trouble leading the Athletics to wins over the Angels and Baltimore Orioles. When healthy, he has served a great fantasy hitter worth starting nearly daily.

8. 2B Rickie Weeks, Milwaukee Brewers

Week 23 statistics: 7/23 H/AB, 4 R, 3 HR, 7 RBI, 1 SB, .304 AVG

Despite struggling in the first half of the season, Weeks have surged since retaking the No. 2 spot in the lineup. With a full turnaround when it matters the most during Milwaukee's run to a wild-card spot, Weeks is back to being a must-start fantasy second baseman.

7. 2B/3B Chris Nelson, Colorado Rockies

Week 23 statistics: 14/25 H/AB, 6 R, 1 HR, 5 RBI, 0 SB, .560 AVG

Relatively unknown a little more than a month ago, Nelson has been one of the hottest batters as of late with a batting average above .500 this week. With great numbers in regards to scoring and batting in runs, he has become a must-own player during this playoff stretch despite being a lesser-known commodity.

6. 3B Adrian Beltre, Texas Rangers

Week 23 statistics: 7/19 H/AB, 8 R, 3 HR, 4 RBI, 0 SB, .368 AVG

As the Rangers continue their playoff chase in the AL West, Beltre has been a solid force in the lineup. From a nice number of hits to a high amount of runs scored in Week 23, Beltre is a dominant fantasy third baseman.

5. OF Justin Maxwell, Houston Astros

Week 23 statistics: 8/25 H/AB, 6 R, 2 HR, 6 RBI, 2 SB, .320 AVG

The most unlikely player on this list, Maxwell leads the Astros with 16 home runs on the season. Currently on a 10-game hitting streak, his recent numbers making him an outfielder worth using in deeper leagues.

4. OF Andrew McCutchen, Pittsburgh Pirates

Week 23 statistics: 9/23 H/AB, 5 R, 3 HR, 4 RBI, 2 SB, .391 AVG

With the Pirates trying to survive in the wild-card race, McCutchen is trying to do all he can to keep his team in contention. One of the best performers in Week 23, it's no surprise this NL MVP candidate has sustained his strong production all season long.

3. C/1B Buster Posey, San Francisco Giants

Week 23 statistics: 11/25 H/AB, 8 R, 2 HR, 6 RBI, 0 SB, .440 AVG

Like McCutchen, Posey is another NL MVP candidate who has been unstoppable all season long. Posey added to his excellent resume this season by finishing a triple shy of the cycle on September 15 against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

2. 1B/3B Miguel Cabrera, Detroit Tigers

Week 23 statistics: 11/27 H/AB, 7 R, 3 HR, 7 RBI, 0 SB, .407 AVG

Going from one league to another, Cabrera is a major AL MVP candidate for his great numbers all season, particularly in this crucial second half of the season. Since the All-Star break, Cabrera has 20 home runs, 52 RBIs, and a .341 batting average.

1. SS Jimmy Rollins, Philadelphia Phillies

Week 23 statistics: 11/28 H/AB, 9 R, 3 HR, 6 RBI, 5 SB, .393 AVG

Like Weeks, Rollins had a down year earlier in the season but has been particularly hot as of late in the Phillies NL wild-card chase. Rollins was particularly good on the bases this week with five of his 30 steals on the season this week.

Honorable mentions (ranked 11-15 in order): Milwaukee Brewers SP Wily Peralta, San Diego Padres 1B/OF Yonder Alonso, New York Yankees OF Curtis Granderson, San Diego Padres 2B/3B Logan Forsythe, Atlanta Braves SP Mike Minor
