Fan's Reaction: Jbe Kruger Wins 2012 Avantha Masters

Yahoo Contributor Network

Jbe Kruger won the Avantha Masters on Sunday Feb. 19, 2012, in New Delhi, India. Kruger won the tournament by two shots over Jorge Campillo and Marcel Siem. Kruger separated himself from the pack.

However, as a golf fan, I enjoyed that eight golfers finished within four shots of the winner. Four more golfers were tied five shots behind Kruger, so the pack was certainly in the chase.

Jbe Kruger

Jbe Kruger earned his first European Tour victory today. His best round was the third round when he scored a 66. The rest of his rounds were pretty consistent, shooting a 70 and a pair of 69s. Kruger came intro the event ranked 159th in the World Rankings. The victory should help him move up quite a bit. Kruger jumped up to fourth in the Race to Dubai standings. I thought Kruger winning his first tournament added to the excitement of the event.

Jorge Campillo

Jorge Campillo came into the Avantha Masters ranked 395th in the World Rankings. He left the event knowing he will rise in the rankings after his second-place finish. Jorge jumped up to 13th in the Race to Dubai standings after his strong finish. Campillo started the tournament with a 72 and 71. However, he finished strong with a 66 and 67.

Marcel Siem

Marcel Siem played a solid consistent tournament. He scored a pair of 69s, a 68, and a 70. However, his worst round was his last and prevented the golfer from moving up. The second-place finish landed Marcel the seventh spot on the Race to Dubai standings. Siem will likely move up in the World Rankings due to his second-place finish. He came into the event ranked 169th in the world.

I am a recreational golfer who has played golf in five states. I have been following the PGA Tour my whole life growing up near Sawgrass the home of the TPC.
