The Los Angeles Galaxy have recovered from their beginning of the season slump. Now, they look to win their third game in a row against Western Conference rivals FC Dallas. Here are three factors that may help determine the outcome of the game on April 28th at the Home Depot Center.
Both teams have some important players on their injury list. For FC Dallas, starting keeper Kevin Hartman is listed on the questionable list with back spasms. Another noticeable absence is Carlos Rodríguez who suffered a dislocated elbow in the midweek match against RSL. Finally, David Ferreira and Ricardo Villar are other midfielders who are also out. For the Galaxy, the majority of our starting midfield is on our questionable list. David Beckham has back spasms. Juninho has a right ankle contusion and Mike Magee has a left quad contusion. I am hoping at least two out of these three midfielders make it into the lineup. Beckham presence is especially important for our success.
Fatigue can definitely play a factor in a team's performance. At the beginning of the season, the Galaxy had a jam-packed schedule. However, for the past few weeks, they have only had one game a week. On the other hand, FCD will be playing their third match in eight days. Another plus for the Galaxy is the fact they will be playing at the Home Depot Center. However, according Bruce Arena, the amount of games one plays in one week doesn't mean a whole lot. One player who will be well rested is Blas Perez. The striker served a one-game suspension and should have fresh legs for the match.
The Galaxy are riding a two-game winning streak. In addition to winning momentum, Landon Donovan has scoring momentum. The L.A. captain has scored once in each of the last two games. Furthermore, Robbie Keane has been responsible for two assists in the two most recent matches. On the other hand, Dallas has a loss and a tie in their last two games. Furthermore, FCD have not won any road games this season.
I think the Los Angeles Galaxy have an advantage over Dallas. In fact, I predict we post a victory. See what happens at 7:30 p.m. PDT.
