While the Tim Lincecum versus Roy Halladay matchup on Monday night had a disappointing result for San Francisco Giants fans, the home team will have a chance to win the rubber match after a 4-2 victory on Tuesday night. Led by Buster Posey and Madison Bumgarner, the Giants would more than welcome four runs and 13 hits against tonight's starting pitcher for Philadelphia: Cliff Lee.
In three starts at AT&T Park in the regular season, Lee has put up an excellent 3-0 record, 18 strikeouts, and 0.72 ERA. On the other hand, Matt Cain also has a great track record against the Phillies. Coming off a one-hit shutout against the Pittsburgh Pirates, Cain has a 0.60 ERA and nine strikeouts against the Phillies in 2011. With two great pitchers entering a great situation, this matchup has the makings of a great pitcher's duel.
On offense, the Giants' leading hitter is Pablo Sandoval. With a hit in all 11 games so far, Sandoval will have a tough time against Lee who is 1 for 8 lifetime against him. For the Phillies, Jimmy Rollins and Hunter Pence, the No. 3 and 4 hitters for Philadelphia, have been the team's biggest contributors and will be the biggest challenges for Cain and the Giants bullpen.
The San Francisco Giants will take on the Philadelphia Phillies at AT&T Park located in San Francisco, CA on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at 7:05 p.m. PT. This will be the third game in a three-game series.
