Falcons promote Vital to director of player personnel

The Falcons brought back veteran LB Mike Peterson, the team announced Monday.

Last season, Peterson played in 15 games with four starts for Atlanta and made 24 tackles, three passes defensed and one interception. He played in every game in 2009 and 2010, starting 29 games in that span.

Peterson, 36, played for the Colts from 1999-2002 and the Jaguars from 2003-08. He has 21½ career sacks and 19 interceptions. Peterson adds depth to the unit, as free-agent acquisition Lofa Tatupu injured his pectoral, the team announced on Saturday.
