Fantasy Football 2014:

Falcons' Gonzalez "probably" retiring

The SportsXchange

The spectacular 16-year career of Falcons tight end Tony Gonzalez might have ended Sunday when Atlanta lost in the NFC Championship Game.

"I've had a great ride. It's been awesome. I have no regrets," Gonzalez told the team's website after making eight receptions for 78 yards and a touchdown in the Falcons' 28-24 defeat against the San Francisco 49ers. His 10-yard touchdown on a pass from Matt Ryan gave Atlanta a 24-14 lead in the final minute of the first half.

"It's probably the last time I'm going to wear that uniform," Gonzalez told the Falcons' website. "I didn't want to take it off, to tell you the truth. All good things come to an end and, like I said all season long, this is probably my last one. What an unbelievable ride."

Gonzalez ranks second in NFL history with 1,242 regular-season receptions, trailing only Jerry Rice's total of 1,549.

Gonzalez was selected to his 13th Pro Bowl this season, as he compiled 93 catches for 930 yards and eight touchdowns.

He ranks second among active players with 103 touchdowns, a total that rates 18th all-time. Gonzalez's total of 14,268 receiving yards is seventh all-time, second among active players. In both categories, San Francisco's Randy Moss is the active leader.
