Sidney Sanders' tap in at the buzzer enabled Fairleigh Dickinson to squeak out an 82-80 victory over visiting Lafayette Friday night.

Sanders scored the last five points for FDU, which was led by Mustafaa Jones' 18 and Lonnie Robinson chipped in with 17, as the Knights won their fourth of their last five games in improving to 4-4. Seth Hinrichs scored a game-high 27 in leading Lafayette, which dropped to 3-8.

FDU never trailed, though Lafayette's Dan Trist tied the score at 80-80 on a put back, whittling an early large deficit with 22.9 seconds left to play. A Hinrichs 3-pointer with 35.3 seconds left pulled Lafayette to within 79-78, but that was answered by a Sanders free throw.

FDU took a 44-35 lead into halftime.

The Knights were torrid at the start, hitting their first six 3-pointers and got off a 9-0 lead before Lafayette scored its first basket.

The Knights shot 67-percent from the floor, making 16 of 24 from the floor, and finished the half nailing eight of 10 from beyond the arc, with Lafayette big men Levi Giese and Trist strapped to the bench with two fouls each.

The largest FDU lead was 32-18.
