Former TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin won’t see jail time.

Boykin, now with the Seattle Seahawks, pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor resisting arrest charge in Bexar County (Texas) Court Thursday and was sentenced to one year of probation. According to the San Antonio Express-News, Boykin, who was arrested following a Dec. 31 incident at a San Antonio bar, is permitted to complete “the bulk” of his probation in Seattle.

From the Express-News:

Boykin, 22, received one year’s deferred adjudication probation in Bexar County Court at Law No. 12 for the Class A misdemeanor and was fined $1,500 plus court costs. He will be allowed to serve the bulk of his probation, including 80 hours of community service and taking alcohol awareness and anger management courses, in Seattle.

If he completes its requirements, the conviction won’t register on a permanent record, Judge Scott Roberts told Boykin. If Boykin violates the conditions, his probation will be revoked, Roberts said.

Boykin was initially arrested Dec. 31, two days before TCU took on Oregon in the Alamo Bowl. Video showed Boykin scuffling with bar staff and officers. A police report said the arresting officer suffered lacerations to his knees.

Boykin, who was suspended for the game, was charged with assaulting a public servant, resisting arrest and public intoxication, but Thursday’s plea was part of a deal struck with the prosecution that his agent alluded to earlier in the week when reached by the Seattle Times.

Boykin threw for 10,728 yards, 86 touchdowns and 37 interceptions while rushing for 2,049 yards and 27 scores during his TCU career. He went undrafted following his arrest, but caught on with the Seahawks and ascended to No. 2 on the depth chart behind Russell Wilson at quarterback.

The Seahawks open training camp on July 30. The penalties from Thursday’s sentencing will not impact Boykin’s ability to participate in camp.
