Former Memphis player Antonio Barton is staying in-state and transferring to Tennessee.
Barton's brother, Will, announced his sibling's intentions Sunday via Twitter. Antonio Barton will graduate from Memphis before the start of the fall semester at Tennessee, which will allow him to play next season without sitting out a transfer year.
Will Barton is a former Memphis guard now with the Portland Trail Blazers in the NBA.
"Big day for my bro. It's bout 2 go down. Know he gonna be successful its his turn. World bout 2 see how good he really is! #BartonBrothers," Will tweeted.
Antonio Barton, a 6-foot-2 guard, had earlier said that he would transfer out of Memphis after teammate Joe Jackson announced he would remain at with the Tigers. Barton's playing time had diminished since his freshman season when he averaged 8.2 points and 24.6 minutes per game. As a junior, his averages fell to 5.6 points and 16.7 minutes.
Barton also considered Kansas State, Maryland and Texas A&M before deciding on Tennessee, which has a need for an experienced guard after dismissing Trae Golden from the team last month.
