The Los Angeles City Attorney's Office filed domestic-abuse charges against former Dodgers outfielder Milton Bradley on Friday.

Bradley, 34, could face up to 13 years in jail if he's convicted on four counts of spousal battery, four counts of criminal threats, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, two counts of vandalism and one count of dissuading a witness from making a report. The charges stem from five incidents in which he threatened and attacked his wife.

He also could face up to $13,000 in fines and restitution. Bradley remains free while awaiting a Jan. 24 arraignment.

Bradley and his wife, Monique, are in the midst of a divorce.

"During one incident in November 2012, Bradley allegedly pushed his wife against a kitchen wall and choked her with both hands after she requested that he stop smoking marijuana in front of their children and requested that his friends leave her San Fernando Valley home," the city attorney's office said in a statement.

During an attack in August 2011, prosecutors said Bradley kicked his wife in the ribs and then threatened her with a knife, saying "You'll be dead b---- before you divorce me."

According to reports, Bradley denies the allegations.

"I've talked to him already," said Harland Braun, Bradley's attorney. "He said, 'she's making up stories. I don't know what she's talking about."

Bradley last played in the major leagues in 2011 with Seattle. His 11-year career was marked by off-the-field incidents that included confrontations with fans, reporters, teammates and umpires.
