Ex-Colombia soap star wants to beat US at Olympics

GLASGOW, Scotland (AP) -- A role in a Colombian soap opera made Orianica Velasquez popular in her country for a while. Now, she wants her play with her country's Olympic soccer team to make her famous again.

The forward will need to act fast, though, because Colombia lost its first match to North Korea at Hampden Park. If the United States wins Saturday in the second game, Colombia could find it difficult to advance to the next round.

Velasquez majors in health administration at Indiana University. She played the role of Betty on "Juego Limpio," or Fair Play, six years ago.

She said Friday she wants "to become famous for a second time," only this time through soccer.
