The Philadelphia Eagles got back an offensive lineman they needed.

Guard Evan Mathis, who was added for depth a year ago, has agreed to re-sign with the team after making visits and considering his options. He returns with a five-year contract and will solidify the interior of the Eagles’ line.

According to Adam Caplan, the deal has a maximum value of $31.25 million. Mathis gets $7 million guaranteed and $9 million in the first two years. The base value of the package is $25 million.

Mathis, an eight-year veteran, started 15 games at left guard last season after being added to the mix during training camp. He’s considered a solid member of the locker room.
