Erik Bedard: Signs Minor League Deal With Astros

Rotowire.com
Update: Bedard signed a minor league contract with the Astros on Monday that includes an invite to spring training, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports. Astros GM Jeff Luhnow said there's a "strong chance" Bedard will be included in the rotation.

Recommendation: Bedard will return to the American League next season after going 7-14 with a 5.01 ERA in 24 starts for the Pirates in 2012. The 33-year-old southpaw has a 3.85 ERA and a 8.7 K/9 for his career, and it looks like he'll get a real chance to crack the rotation as Luhnow reportedly feels the club needs a lefty starter.
