Eric Decker's wife: I'd want Eric to stop playing after three concussions

Former NFL players Tony Scheffler and Sidney Rice both announced their retirement over the summer and both players retired for largely the same reason: Concussions.

Broncos wide receiver Wes Welker never seriously considered retirement after suffering his third concussion in 10 months in August, but one of Welker's former teammates would probably hang up his cleats if he suffered a third concussion.

Jessie James Decker, the wife of Jets wide receiver Eric Decker, said this week that she'd want Eric to stop playing if he suffered three concussions.

"I think any wife would be really really concerned for their husband," Jessie told USA Today's For the Win. "I think every football player has their point when they're ready to stop and … I'm not sure [of] Wes Welker's situation, maybe he's ready to keep going. Of course I would tell Eric to stop, but every situation is different and I'm not there anymore, we’re not Broncos anymore, so it’s really hard to say. But of course any wife would be concerned for her husband’s health."

Welker and Decker were teammates in Denver in 2013.

Lucky for Jessie Decker, concussions don't seem to be something she's had to worry about. In four NFL seasons, Decker isn't known to have suffered any head injuries on the field.
