The New England Revolution held out against significant Sporting Kansas City pressure to hold out for a point at home and become the third straight team to deny KC a point.
The visitors created far more on offense, carving out 13 scoring attempt's to New England's three, while forcing Matt Reis into four saves while Jimmy Nielsen was largely untroubled all game.
Kansas City's frustration was epitomized in the 18th minute. CJ Sapong's shot hit the post but fell to Benny Feilhaber, but the former New England midfielder couldn't capitalize against his old team, sending his effort right into the arms of Reis.
The result leaves New England with a 1-1-1 record on the season, while Sporting, widely considered a preseason favorite, sits on a disappointing 1-1-2.
