The Patriots fell to the Panthers, 24-20, in Charlotte.
Tom Brady completed 29 of 40 passes for 296 yards, one touchdown and one pick. Cam Newton ended up going 19 of 28 with 209 yards passing, three touchdowns and no interceptions for the Panthers.
Shane Vereen gained seven yards on one carries in addition to eight receptions for 65 yards. Rob Gronkowski was a highlight, catching five passes for 59 yards while adding a touchdown.
The New England defense gave up 103 yards rushing and 209 passing. They sacked Newton three times.
Panthers tight end Greg Olsen had a big game, putting up 52 receiving yards and one touchdown. After Newton, he was the top performer for Carolina. Wide receiver Brandon LaFell also put together a noteworthy performance with 59 receiving yards and one touchdown.
Next week, the Patriots host the Broncos (9-1) while the Panthers head to Miami Gardens to face the Dolphins (5-5).
