Tom Brady had a big day for the offense, but it was not enough to avoid a loss for the Patriots against the Dolphins, 24-20, at Sun Life Stadium.
Brady put together a solid performance, finishing 34 for 55 with 364 yards passing, two touchdowns and one pick. Ryan Tannehill also played quite well, and wound up 25 for 37 with 312 yards passing, three touchdowns and no interceptions.
LeGarrette Blount gained 47 yards on 11 carries. Julian Edelman was a highlight, catching 13 passes for 139 yards while adding a touchdown.
The New England defense struggled against the pass, but managed to slow down the run game, allowing 89 yards rushing and 312 passing. They manhandled Tannehill with four sacks.
Dolphins wide receiver Mike Wallace could not be contained, putting up 105 receiving yards, 13 rushing and one touchdown. After Tannehill, he was the top performer for Miami.
Next week, the Patriots head to Baltimore to face the Ravens (7-6) while the Dolphins go to Orchard Park to play the Bills (5-9).
