Dartmouth (3-9) had five players in double figures, led by R.J. Griffin (15 points). But Army (5-7) rode the scoring of Ellis and Pancoe and clutch foul shooting down the stretch.
Down 28-26 at halftime, Army got 13 bench points from Julian Simmons. Ellis' 20 points included 8 of 10 from the foul line. Pancoe hit 7 of 9 shots from 3-point range.
The score was tied 59-all until Simmons' 3-pointer with 1:51 left put Army ahead for good. The Black Knights outscored Dartmouth 15-6 in the final 4 minutes, Pancoe hitting 3 of 4 foul shots and Simmons a pair with 8 seconds left. Jabari Trotter missed a 3-pointer with 2 seconds left that would have forced overtime.
For Dartmouth, Jvonte Brooks had 13 points and John Golden, Mack McKearney and Trotter 10 apiece.
