Eagles sign QB Dixon

The SportsXchange

Quarterback Dennis Dixon signed a two-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles, reuniting the former Oregon star with head coach Chip Kelly.

Dixon, 28, spent the 2012 season on the Baltimore Ravens practice squad. Selected in the fifth round in 2008 by the Pittsburgh Steelers, Dixon has played in four games, including three starts. He has thrown for 402 yards and a touchdown, while rushing for 56 yards and a score.

He was part of two Super Bowl winning teams, with the Ravens last season and the Steelers in 2008.

"We are excited to bring in Dennis Dixon to compete at the quarterback position," Eagles general manager Howie Roseman said in a statement. "Dennis is a veteran in this league that has been a part of two Super Bowl-winning teams in his career. He's also very familiar with Chip Kelly and how he operates."

As a senior in 2007, with Kelly as his offensive coordinator, Dixon threw for 2,136 yards and set a school record for a quarterback with 1,208 rushing yards.
