Eagles sign QB Dixon

The Eagles signed QB Dennis Dixon to a two-year contract on Thursday, the team announced.

Dixon spent the 2012 season on the Ravens’ practice squad after four seasons with the Steelers. He started two games in 2010 and one in 2009.

In his career, Dixon has completed 35-of-49 passes for 402 yards, one touchdown and two picks, while rushing for 56 yards and a score on 10 carries.

The signing reunites Dixon with new Eagles head coach Chip Kelly, who was Dixon’s offensive coordinator at Oregon in 2007. That season, Dixon completed 67.7 percent of his passes for 20 touchdowns and four interceptions, and rushed for 583 yards before tearing his ACL late in the season.

“I never put anything past Chip Kelly,” Dixon told PFW’s Eric Edholm at the Super Bowl about possibly joining Kelly in Philadelphia. “Whatever is on his mind, I am 100 percent with it. He’s a very good guru as far as offense. If he thinks he can transfer that offense from Oregon to the pros, I have confidence in him.”
