Eagles hire Gamble as VP of player personnel

The Eagles have released C Jamaal Jackson, the second offensive lineman the team let go of on Wednesday.

Jackson was the team's longest tenured player, having been with the organization since 2003. In that span, he played in 88 games, starting 72 of them. By cutting the veteran lineman, the team saves $1.575 million in salary cap.

In 2011, he played in all 16 games for the team but did not start any of them.

Earlier in the day, the team traded OT Winston Justice to the Colts.

The way we see it

This is no surprise whatsoever. He was benched for a sixth-round pick (Jason Kelce) last season and was way too expensive too keep on the roster. Andy Reid, who loves to cycle in new OL talent every year, is almost certain to draft help here, even if OG Evan Mathis is re-signed.
