Eagles' Peters arrested after car chase

Five-time Pro Bowl offensive tackle Jason Peters of the Philadelphia Eagles was arrested early Wednesday morning after being accused of leading police on a chase where speeds reached 100 mph.

According to USA Today, Peters faces charges of drag racing and resisting a police officer by flight resulting from an incident in Monroe, La.

Two cars were seen accelerating at a high rate of speed and appeared to be racing around 4:45 a.m., according to the police arrest report.

When a deputy attempted to pull over the vehicles, the driver of one car pulled over, but the driver of a Camaro, allegedly driven by Peters, kept going, and exceeded speeds of 100 mph, the report stated.

The driver of the Camaro eventually pulled into a shopping center where he got out of the car and was handcuffed and taken to a nearby jail.

Peters was booked on drag racing and resisting by flight, police said.

"We are aware of the reports that Jason Peters was arrested this morning in Louisiana," the Eagles said in a statement. "We have been in contact with Jason and due to the legal nature of this matter, we will not have any further comment at this point."

In 2011, Peters was charged with disturbing the peace.

Peters, in his fifth season with the Eagles, missed all of last season to recover from a torn Achilles tendon suffered in an offseason workout.
