Eagles 17, Browns 16

CLEVELAND -- Michael Vick threw four interceptions Sunday, but it was his touchdown pass in the final minute of the game that saved the Eagles from a Week 1 upset at the hands of the Browns.

Vick capped a 91-yard, 16-play drive with a 4-yard touchdown pass to Clay Harbor with 1:18 left to rally the Eagles past the Browns, 17-16.

The Browns have lost 13 of 14 season openers since returning to the NFL in 1999.

Browns linebacker D'Qwell Jackson intercepted a pass on the Eagles 27 with the Browns trailing, 10-9, and returned it for a touchdown with 13:59 left to give Cleveland a temporary lead.

Both defenses dominated behind smothering pass rushes that forced quick off-balance throws by Vick and Browns rookie Brandon Weeden. Weeden threw four interceptions. The last, after the Harbor touchdown, sealed Cleveland's fate.

A fumble by LeSean McCoy on the Eagles first possession led to Phil Dawson kicking a 43-yard field goal to put the Browns on the board first. Vick threw an interception on the Eagles next possession, but the Browns had to punt before making a first down.

The Browns had a chance to take a 10-3 lead in the second quarter. A drive to the Eagles 13 highlighted by a 35-yard run on a reverse by rookie receiver Travis Benjamin ended when a pass rifled by Weeden bounced off wide receiver Greg Little's hands and was intercepted by Philadelphia safety Curt Coleman.

The Eagles got a 42-yard field goal from Alex Henry on the first play of the second quarter and then took a 10-3 halftime lead on a 74-yard drive that took only 32 seconds to execute.

The Browns started a drive on their own 18 with 1:26 left in the half. Eagles coach Andy Reid called timeouts after two consecutive runs by Trent Richardson. A pass on third-and-one to fullback Owen Marecic was incomplete.

Only 49 seconds remained in the half when the Eagles took possession on their 26. Vick connected with Jeremy Maclin for 46 yards to the Browns 18. Vick came back to Maclin on the next play crossing the back of the end zone for a touchdown.

A 42-yard field goal by Dawson with 4:57 left in the third quarter sliced the Eagles lead to 10-6. He added a 22-yard field goal in the fourth quarter.

NOTES: Browns starting right cornerback Sheldon Brown sustained a shoulder injury near the end of the first quarter and did not return. ... Maclin left the game briefly in the first half with a hip injury but returned to give the Eagles the lead at halftime.
