Dwyane Wade put up 30 points and notched 10 rebounds to help the Miami Heat nip the Detroit Pistons, 102-96. This is the seventh win for Miami (34-13) in its last 10 games.
Wade went 13-19, in an efficient offensive performance. Other key players for Miami included LeBron James with 24 points and 11 assists, and Chris Bosh with 17 points and 7 rebounds. Brandon Jennings had another big game for Detroit despite the loss, putting up 26 points on 7-15 shooting (2-7 on 3-point attempts), in addition to going 10-12 from the free throw line. Rodney Stuckey chipped in 20 points and 7 rebounds, Greg Monroe finished with 17 points and 11 rebounds, and Josh Smith put up 12 points and 6 rebounds.
Poor shooting (eFG% of 44.6%) combined with sloppy ball-handling (TO% of 20.9) proved too much to overcome for the Pistons. On the season, they are winless (0-2) when posting an eFG% of worse than 45% while also giving the ball away on more than 17% of their possessions. The Heat are undefeated (6-0) when coaxing their opponents into such substandard offensive showings.
This drops Detroit (19-28) to 1-2 against Miami on the year.
Coming up next, the Heat take on the Los Angeles Clippers, who are 34-16 on the year. The Pistons match up with the Orlando Magic, currently 13-37 this season. The Heat are 1-0 versus Los Angeles this season. The Pistons are 1-1 versus Orlando this season.
