Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Launches #SevenBucksMoment Series as He Remembers Hitting Rock Bottom

Today, no one can keep Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson down. The WWE-wrestler-turned-actor has so many big-budget movies in the works — Baywatch, Fast 8, and the Jumanji reboot, to name a few — that it’s tough to keep up.

But in the back of his mind, Johnson always remembers what he calls his “seven bucks moment” — a time in his life when he literally had only $7 in his wallet and had to move back in with his parents. It happened back in 1995, just after the young Johnson was cut from the Canadian Football League after just two months, ending his dreams of becoming a football star.

In the first episode of a new YouTube series, #SevenBucksMoment, which his production company launched today, the Rock tells the story of hitting that low point in his life and eventually turning things around.

“We’ve all been there,” he says in the clip. “We know what it’s like to get our ass kicked, but we also know what it’s like to come back up again.”

Future episodes of the series will showcase actors, athletes, comedians, and more sharing their stories of finding the strength to move forward. The next one will post on Dec. 16 and the series is produced by Seven Bucks Digital Studios, the digital arm of Seven Bucks Productions, which was co-founded by Johnson and Dany Garcia.

The Rock is a particularly excellent example of how to do that. He went from having $7 21 years ago to earning a whopping $64.5 million and being named the world’s highest-paid actor, according to Forbes. Now that’s inspiration!
