Dungy: Not interested in USC job

The SportsXchange

NBC Sports analyst Tony Dungy said on the Dan Patrick Show Monday that USC contacted him about its coaching vacancy, but Dungy told the school he was not interested.

USC is looking for a new coach since firing Lane Kiffin after a 62-41 loss at Arizona State that dropped the Trojans to 3-2 on the season.

Dungy, who has been out of coaching since 2008, mentioned his lack of coaching experience at the college level when he spoke to USC representatives.

Dungy was coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 1996-2001, and the Indianapolis Colts from 2002-08. He became the first black coach to win a Super Bowl when the Colts beat the Chicago Bears in Super Bowl XLI.

Dungy, who retired with a 139-69 coaching record, also set an NFL record with 10 straight seasons of making the postseason as a coach.
