Duke's leading rusher out of bowl game

Duke will be without its leading rusher for the Chick-Fil-A Bowl against Texas A&M on Dec. 31 in Atlanta.

Sophomore running back Jela Duncan will not play because of a violation of university academic policy, the school announced Saturday. His suspension extends through next season.

Duncan rushed for 562 yards on 113 carries during the regular season and added 123 yards receiving while scoring four touchdowns.

The Blue Devils (10-3) used a multiple-backs rotation this season and will have junior Josh Snead (546 yards on 90 carries), sophomore Shaquille Powell (337 yards on 60 carries) and senior Juwan Thompson (256 yards on 53 carries) available for the bowl game against Texas A&M (8-4).

Duncan will not lose a year of eligibility, according to ther Raleigh News & Observer, because he will have the option to redshirt next season. He will be able to return to the team from his suspension for the spring semester in 2015.
