Ducks 6, Blues 5 (SO)
ST. LOUIS - Nick Boninio scored in the sixth round of the shootout to lead the Anaheim Ducks to a 6-5 win over the St. Louis Blues on Saturday.
Corey Perry, Ryan Getzlaf and Saku Koivu also scored in the shootout for the Ducks, who won for the fifth time in six games.
Anaheim (8-2-1), which won the overall shootout 4-3, bounced back from a 3-1 loss in Dallas on Friday that snapped a four-game winning streak.
St. Louis (6-5-0) has lost four in a row, its longest regular-season losing streak under coach Ken Hitchcock, who took over Nov. 7, 2011.
Bobby Ryan added two goals and two assists in regulation for the winners. Teemu Selanne had a goal and three assists.
Anaheim goalie Viktor Fasth stopped three shots in the shootout and remained unbeaten at 5-0.
St. Louis defenseman Ian Cole appeared to score the game-winning goal with 23.1 seconds left in overtime. But Patrik Berglund was called for goalie interference on the play.
Blues winger Chris Stewart tied the game 5-5 on a power play goal with 4:34 remaining in the third period. He pounded on the rebound of a shot by Alex Steen.
Koivu had given his team a 5-4 cushion by scoring on a wrist shot from the slot with just over six minutes left.
The Ducks scored three times in a span of 1:41 in the second period to erase a 3-1 deficit. Ryan put his team in front to stay with a wrist shot over goalie Brian Elliott at 14:21 of the second period.
Ryan started the blitz by pouncing on a rebound of a shot by Saku Koivu. Andrew Cogliano tied the game 45 seconds later with a shot from the side of the net.
St. Louis winger T.J. Oshie tied the game 4-4 on 3:21 of the third period.
David Backes gave St. Louis a 2-1 lead on a high wrist shot at 15:30 of the second. The goal was the Blues' first 5-on-5 tally in 182 minutes and 26 seconds.
David Perron pushed the lead to 3-1 just under four mintues later. He converted on a rebound of a shot by kevin Shattenkirk.
St. Louis jumped in front on a power play goal by Alex Steen early in the opening period. His wrist shot from the top of the faceoff circle zipped through several players and behind fasth, who never moved on the play.
Anaheim tied the game 1-1 at 11:09 on its first shot of the game as Ryan whipped a shot that went in off Elliott.
The Blues announced after that game that RW Jamie Langenbrunner will undergo season-ending hip surgery next week.
"It makes sense to do it now," Langenbrunner said. "Get it done, then six months of getting in shape and I can be back strong."
NOTES: The Blues have scored at least one power-play goal in their last five games. ... St. Louis G Jaroslav Halak, who was placed on injured reserve with a groin ailment Feb. 3, faced shots in practice Friday and could be ready for Monday's game against Los Angeles. ... Anaheim G Jonas Hiller is listed as day-to-day. He left Friday's 3-1 loss in Dallas after the first period with a lower body injury. The Ducks have recalled Jeff Deslauriers from Norfolk of the AHL to serve as backup. ... The Ducks are in the middle of a season-long six-game road trip that concludes Feb. 16 at Nashville. ... St. Louis D Wade Redden was honored before the contest. He played in his 1,000th career game Thursday.
