Buzzing on Yahoo Sports:

Duchene not expected to play vs. Wild

The SportsXchange

Colorado Avalanche coach Patrick Roy said Saturday he does not expect center Matt Duchene to play in the first-round playoff series against the Minnesota Wild.

Duchene, the team's leading scorer, has been out since March 29 with a damaged MCL in his left knee.

Roy said before Saturday's Game 2 of the series that he would be "very, very surprised" if Duchene plays against the Wild. Duchene has not started skating yet.

Initially, Duchene was expected to miss four weeks, but Roy said it will likely be even longer than that.

Duchene, 23, led the Avalanche with a career-high 70 points (23 goals and 47 assists) this season.

Also, Roy said forward John Mitchell, who is out with a head injury, is not ready to return.
