Dose: The Devan Dubnyk Show
It was a busy night in the NHL as there were seven games. Devan Dubnyk continued his brilliance in the Minnesota net while the Maple Leafs are heading closer and closer to the basement of the NHL as they dropped their 14th straight game on the road.

CAROLINA 2 TORONTO 1
The Maple Leafs continue to fall as they dropped a 2-1 decision to Carolina Friday for their 24th loss in their last 28 games (4-22-2).
All the scoring was done in the first period as the Staal brothers, Eric and Jordan each scored once with Jiri Tlusty helping to set up both goals.
Brandon Kozun scored his first NHL goal in his career to briefly tie the game at one before Jordan Staal scored just 16 seconds later as the Hurricane held on for the win.
Cam Ward stopped 23 shots for his 15th win of the season while James Reimer made 24 saves but it wasn’t enough as he is now 7-13.
The Hurricanes climbed to within two points of Toronto for 26th overall in the standings.
NEW JERSEY 4 VANCOUVER 2
Michael Cammalleri scored twice including the winner on the power play to lift the Devils to a 4-2 win over Vancouver.
Cammalleri also scored into the empty net with 2:07 remaining to seal the win. Patrik Elias with his 10th and Jordin Tootoo with goal number five on the season also scored for the Devils while Zack Kassian scored both for the Canucks with Daniel and Henrik Sedin setting up both goals.
Cory Schneider made 21 saves to go to 21-22-5 this season while Eddie Lack stopped 23 of 26 for his seventh loss of the campaign against six wins.
It was a big night for Adam Larsson who had three assists. I’ve been touting him since the Devils made their coaching change and he has been most impressive of late.
NEW YORK RANGERS 3 BUFFALO 1
Mackenzie Skapski started his first NHL game in net against the Sabres and came away with a 3-1 win for the Rangers.
Skapski stopped 24 shots it looked like it was going to be a long night early on as Matt Moulson beat him 14 seconds into the game but Skapski shut the door after that for the victory.
Carl Hagelin got things started for the Rangers with his 14th of the season and Rick Nash and Mats Zuccarello scored in the second to put the game away and end the scoring.
Michal Neuvirth was terrific in goal for Buffalo as he stopped 40 in a losing cause.
Mike Weber was injured in the first period and did not return. He has an upper body injury.
ST. LOUIS 5 BOSTON 1
It was not the best of career starts for Malcolm Subban as his NHL debut went totally awry as he gave up three goals on six shots before being mercifully pulled by coach Claude Julien in a 5-1 loss to St. Louis. Subban faced only three shots in the first and did not make a save in the second stanza as the Blues scored three times in the first 5:09.
Tuukka Rask was not much better giving up a pair of goals on nine shots as the Blues put only 15 shots on the Boston goal.
Vladimir Tarasenko led the way with a pair of goals while T.J. Oshie had a goal and a helper. Alex Pietrangelo and Petteri Lindbohm, with his first NHL goal of his career, completed the scoring for the Blues. Alexander Steen chipped in with three assists.
Jake Allen made 26 saves for his 17th win of the season. Only Brad Marchand's 17th goal of the season, which gave the Bruins a 1-0 lead, eluded the St. Louis goaltender.
David Krejci suffered a lower body injury in the second period and did not return. There was no word after the game on his condition.
COLORADO 4 CHICAGO 1
Semyon Varlamov stopped 27 of 28 shots to lead the Avs to a 4-1 win over Chicago.
Kris Versteeg tied the game at 1 with his 12th goal of the season but the Avs scored three times in the third to pull away.
Tyson Barrie scored twice, including his ninth of the season while Gabriel Landeskog scored once and added an assist in the win. Brad Stuart, with his second, completed the scoring as the Avs got three of the four goals from their rearguards.
Corey Crawford gave up four goals on 30 shots for the loss.
ANAHEIM 6 CALGARY 3
The Ducks overcame a 2-1 third period deficit to score five times and win going away 6-3.
Ryan Getzlaf , Andrew Cogliano and Hampus Lindholm each had a goal and an assist to lead the Ducks to the win while Kyle Palmieri, Francois Beauchemin and Jakub Silfverberg also found the back of the net.
John Gibson evened his record at 4 by kicking out 25 of 28 shots for the win. Frederik Andersen is likely back next week and the Ducks will have to decide as to whether to keep Gibson and drop backup Ilya Bryzgalov or keep Bryzgalov and send Gibson to the minors.
Jonas Hiller saw his record drop to 19-17-3 as he gave up five goals on 35 shots.
Lance Bouma, Matt Stajan and Sean Monahan replied for the Flames.
MINNESOTA 4 EDMONTON 0
Devan Dubnyk picked up his fifth shutout in 15 games with the Wild as he stopped 15 shots in a 4-0 win over Edmonton.
Dubnyk has been sensational since GM Chuck Fletcher gave up a third round pick to the Coyotes to get Dubnyk in mid-January. He has solved the Wild’s goaltending woes this season.
Justin Fontaine scored twice including the winner in the first period. Nino Niederreiter with his 19th and Jordan Schroeder with his third in his last seven games, also scored for Minnesota.
Ben Scrivens made 25 saves as his record fell to 11-18-7. Dubnyk started his career in Edmonton with the Oilers but Edmonton gave up on him last season. It was his fifth win this season against the Oilers. It sure looks like a bad mistake was made when they dealt him.
