Dos Santos wants to continue in Spain

The club future of Giovani Dos Santos has been the subject of mounting speculation ever since Mallorca got relegated on the last day of the La Liga season, but he has revealed that his preference is to stay in Spain.

“Of course I want to stay in Spain,” the 24-year-old told reporters following the Mexican national team.

Valencia has shown interest in the forward and rumors suggest Espanyol and Villareal could also be in the mix. Then there is the audacious bid from MLS side LA Galaxy, or the possibility that he will continue with Mallorca and try to help the club get promoted back into Spain’s first division.

Dos Santos is trying to push the big decision back, focusing at present on helping Mexico towards Brazil 2014 in the World Cup qualifiers and then the Confederations Cup.

“What’s going to happen with my future? I don’t think even I know,” said Dos Santos. “But it isn’t time to talk about it, I’m with the national team and I just want to concentrate on the qualifier (against Costa Rica on Tuesday) and the Confederations Cup and the rest we’ll see.”

Dos Santos had perhaps the best season of his club career for Mallorca, playing double the minutes he has in previous seasons in Europe and scoring six goals over his 29 appearances.
